2013 so far...
I have not written in a while, to tell you the truth with everything that has been going on I had forgotten all about this. I did end up going to the hospital through near Glasgow. Had the run down of tests, a nice swim in the pool (was exhausted) and the best dinner I have had for a while. Recently received the letter that always follows just recapping everything, what they did, what they found, what they concluded and what was said between the doctor and myself. That last part I found strange because what the doctor reported and what was actually said between us seemed to be, for the most part, completely wrong. I wonder if she listened to me talking at all or if she just caught parts of it. I would not blame her with all the things that were probably running through her mind at that moment but misrepresentation such as that could cost a life, perhaps mine. You may think this is an over reaction but when asked if I drink I told her I was not one to go out on the weekends and drink, I'd rather go to occasions etc. so I drank occasionally.... What? That is true... Anyway she seemed to think, and reported that I took "no alcohol" - her words. This gives the impression that I am tee-total which I am not, a misrepresentation like that could have a bearing on medication I would receive in an emergency and would result in a reaction. I will be taking this up with her the next time we meet and making sure that we understand each other next time because this has actually annoyed me a lot. Either she has not be listening to me properly or she has misinterpreted what I have said or she has misinterpreted her notes at a later date.
My exams have "finished". I say this in that way because the graded unit exam is done with and all of my other unit requirements passed except my Politics project which is still to be marked. ordinarily I would be annoyed at this because I was one of the first persons to hand this in on the date requested but I have seen the stress the lecturers are under. You can see it in the way they walk about and in their mannerisms. There is not a lecturer in that place around this time with an empty head or aim-less day. You can see in their eyes the million and one things they are listing and relisting, remembering and forgetting. Anyway, John I think intends to have this done by next week so we shall see, either way it will be done, eventually.
Recently I have been working more on my book. Now that exams are done I finally have the time and head-space to start properly working away at it and I must admit it takes a new life every time I work on it. I am seriously chasing this up as a career now. I have been looking into publishing and it seems that self-publishing through Amazon CreateSpace is the best way to go although I have yet to check into prices I really do think it is the best option for me. Established publishers now refuse to accept any submissions other than by those represented by a literary agent, a rather expensive venture. I think that if I truely took this seriously I could make a go of it here. Using Amazon CreateSpace it means I would receive more royalties, have more control over everything. I upload it myself, I can design the cover myself and I can make it available for Amazon Kindle. A man, name of Hugh Howey, self-published a book called "WOOL" which turned into a series. He has done a deal to publish it in print in a certain country (I cannot remember where) and has still retained his rights to distribute it online. So at the moment this is a promising option, but it is merely research at the moment as I have not even finished typing up the book's second draft yet and it changes everyday. I wrote out the first draft by hand in five days, that amount to 90 pages of A4 but of course with my hand writing that was probably around 30-40 pages on the computer, it has grown since then and like I said, it is yet to be finished. Another point I will need to look into is legal matters because of my current income but as i also said, it is merely research at the moment.
